Bill Joy Digital Seminar

In Bill Joy's Interview, he talks about the web environment and 6 types of webs, the possibilities of more and how it effects businesses in the far future. Today i will give a summary of these key points and will help to explain those. Where they are and what they are. The six key webs are:

1. Near web:
Is defined as being close to you with typing and a laptop. Having the closeness to the screen keyboard and a mouse reading distance. The closeness of the web at a distance of intimacy being able to have access to the web not a foot from you. Yahoo & Google are near web experiences because you need to get onto a computer to access.

2. Here web:
Was defined as always with you. Its a device that is always with you that becomes the most important peice of you identity. Mobile devices being personalized and easily accessible, it has a massive level of convenience because you are able to carry it around with you.

3. Far web:
Having contact with digital information at a distance. Web contact and communication from a distance watching a television with the digital information being projected on its screen.

4. Weird web:
Defined by having voice communication, the best description of this is voice recognition between a driver and a mobile device that you can get directions and take mobile phones or Tony Stark communicating with Jarvis. You can converse and interact with objects in the household or car device. having and earpiece and microphone attached to your ear.

5. B2B:
A web that doesn't have a consumer interface, business computers talking to each other to reduce friction and to automate business processes of suppliers and customers.

6.D2D:
Is know as Device to device or the embedded or enmeshed network. Sensors self organizing into networks so you can manage and control them. Being able access the cameras to view the traffic. And self regulating the traffic lights.

Could there be more?
When i think of networks and studying at University. One comes to mind, the networking of the computer within the organization itself is another form of networking. The computers within the University are capable of communicating with the larger network however they have a much smaller and direct network of communication between the existing computers found there.

What does this mean for business?
These sort of establishments of networks are great for businesses. Making daily working processes easier to handle and quicker to respond and complete. Looking at the networks described 2 key networks stand out as having a greater impact to business than one might think. The Here Web and B2B processes network aid business owners by B2B processes sorting out communication between banks and the business so you are paid on time for your product through Eftpos functions and the Here Webs ability to have access to your business at any point in time through your mobile should some of your business processes be online.
